Beanz

Origin: UK / Age: 3 Years

February 2025
Beanz is a very handsome boy who turns 3 next month, his family have made the decision to find him a new home after he’s been showing some dominant behaviour to the family, up until recently he’s been very happily living with the 6 year old daughter, but after an incident where he snapped at her and the couple aren’t sure why they think she may have woken him from a deep sleep, the family have lost their confidence with him and having a one year old child in the house has highlighted their concerns, he has been his usual self with the daughter since this happened and was resourceful at the time.
The couple did find a new home for Beanz with 3 female dogs (1GSP and 2 labs) and 1 Male Terrier. His owners said that while Beanz had shown great family attributes whilst there and he was even sent videos and pictures of him playing nice with the family and other dogs. Unfortunately, there was an incident where he had shown major aggression towards their older male dog, so much so that they said they wouldn't want to risk anything bad happening to their dog, so he was returned.
When Beanz has been left he’s been crated because when he’s been feeling anxious he has become a little destructive. Only ever with toys and stuff his owners explained. A couple of times his owner has come home to bags of rubbish ripped up in the kitchen and neighbours said that he had been howling, but this could have been a joint operation with the other resident dog, the family aren’t sure. On times if he’s been left for long periods he can rip up bedding and toys to pieces.
When they are left his crate is normally left open with access through a dog flap to the garden.
He has been walked along with the resident spaniel by a dog walker when his owner was at work, but she found that together they pulled too much for her.
He’s not been around children older than 8/9 so his owners wouldn’t really know how he would be, but is generally great around people unless they are on a walk and someone approaches them, he will growl to “defend the pack” also if someone he doesn't know enters the house maybe like a plumber or something he will be visibly wary and maybe growl.
Beanz has been usually good with female dogs and male dogs out on walks. However, his owner says that there have been occasions where he does show aggression by barking or lashing out to assert dominance, there's been ( near or no )serious incidents with male dogs, he’s only ever growled at bitches but then gets put in his place and there's never been any major incidents. He’s much happier around the females and enjoys their company.
Beanz has only encountered cats at his owners mother’s home who is also his breeder, but never really seemed to bother with them, he has seen sheep and cows on walks but never really reacted to them.
His recall is 50/50. Sometimes great when with the owners spaniel who’s recall is spot on. If other people or dogs are around and he’s off his lead it can be a challenge. Even sometimes he’s ran to them playing with the other dog and sniffing the other people where the owners had to go over and apologies then put him back on his lead. His owner says that his recall could be better but maybe his worry of him potentially hurting another dog has restricted him letting him off. As soon as he spots people or dogs in the distance he recalls him immediately and puts him on his lead. Sometimes he will respond to a quick sharp whistle. Sometimes he also responds to a click of his owners fingers when commanding sit or lay down. When his owner shouts Beanz or Dog (only ever on a walk or in a big area, not like at home) he will respond. Also, he makes quite a loud whistle and he’s gone out of sight and he will, almost every time, recall or respond.
Beanz loves going out on adventures and can sing with excitement as he’s getting close to areas he recognises. He also loves cuddling on the sofa or if allowed sleeping on his owners bed.
If you feel you have the time and experience to give Beanz the exercise and company that he enjoys please contact us.
Beanz is currently in the Cheshire area and will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and his Adoption Contract.
