Daisy was originally found as a stray and we were lucky enough to find a foster home until she was adopted. She has been with her owner for over a year but sadly due to a deterioration in his health he is finding it too difficult to keep up her exercise.
Daisy is around 4 years of age and has been neutered back in May. She has been living with a calm older male but especially in the beginning she has been dominant towards him. Never causing damage but just bullying him.
We believe this could have been due to her being in season when she moved and the huge change going from the pound to a home. However she does enjoy having all the attention for herself and her owner thinks she gets jealous when the male is having any fuss of attention, so an only dog home would be lovely for her.
Daisy’s owner says that she has a lot of love to give and wants a lot of love back, she is a great dog full of life and fun, she loves her ball and ball games and wants to please you all the time. She also loves scrumping apples and plums and bringing sticks inside and chewing them up.
Daisy has a strong hunting instinct for mice, rats and birds and likes to chase cats given a chance.
Daisy isn’t great off lead and can be tricky to catch when she’s having fun, so her owner uses a long line and a harness. She can also be strong on lead and has pulled him over, he’s currently teaching her to walk on a Halti and can already see an improvement. She can bark at dogs when on lead and had snapped at dogs early on, she seems fine with some while barks at others so this will need some work building up her confidence so that she thinks new dogs are great because she gets lots of delicious treats for ignoring them.
Daisy is a good traveller and will now happily jump in the car and go on journeys, in the beginning she was nervous of jumping into the car, we believe it wasn’t something she was used to, but the more she jumps in following the older, calmer male and they had great adventures the happier she’s become.
Her owner has muzzle trained her which has been great for both their confidence on walks, even though she hasn’t ever bitten a dog on a walk.
Daisy’s fine around horses and livestock and isn’t bothered by fireworks or thunder. She’s fine having her paws looked at and having thorns etc removed, she’s also fine with you taking things from her that she shouldn’t have like plum stones out of her mouth, but she doesn’t like being manhandled he says that her legs and paws go everywhere so he’s careful of her claws scratching him.
We don’t know if she has ever lived with children but Daisy has been wonderful around any children that she’s met and as long as they are happy to fuss her she’s been fine. However she’s not a fan of being manhandled so only dog savvy older children will be considered.
She’s vaccinated until June 2026 and has had regular flea and worm treatments. When she’s left at home she’s in a crate and can be left for up to 3 hours after exercise, at night she sleeps quietly in her owners room.
Daisy is currently in the Dorset area and will be rehomed with her 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and her Adoption Contract.
