Beautiful Dottie is two years of age and her owners had to make the very quick decision to rehome her after a family member had a fall the same day that Dottie was bought and collected. We were asked if we could urgently help them. Fortunately a lovely lady offered to foster Dottie for us and find out more about her. Dottie was also in season at the time and that has now finished, so she will be neutered in three months time.
We know that Dottieis a lovely girl and really enjoys the company of the majority of dogs and loves running with spaniel and larger size dogs, apparently she has previously lived with other dogs, although she does put her hackles up around the fosters Dachshund and similar size dogs.
She has also happily lived with several children and more recently a teenager.
Her foster mum said that she loved playing chasing with a family members springer and Lab in a secure field. But even on a long line she runs in circles. When she first arrived into foster she would pant, pace and circle constantly, she has relaxed as she’s started to settle in. She has now learned to sit and wait for her food, but can still jump up if really excited. She can do excitement wees on times and is learning to go outside to the toilet but after possibly being a kennelled girl, this is still a work in progress, but if she’s let out she will go to the toilet. She’s also found the joy of having treats as rewards, she’s gone from not touching treats to loving to earn them. Dottie doesn’t play toys, but given time she could realise how much fun they can be.
Dottie has been left after exercise by her lovely foster mum after exercise, for 2-3 hours she cried and whined but then settled down in the kitchen where she’s been sleeping overnight.
We don’t know how Dottie will behave around livestock or cats so we will err on the side of caution and say no cats and careful introductions to livestock will be needed.
We are trying to find out more information about this gorgeous girl so we could update her post if we do.
