Otto is a gorgeous 8 year old gent who is a happy healthy lad who loves his walks and basking in the sunshine in the garden.
His family took him on after his first owners moved to a smaller home and couldn’t take a dog. They had young children that Otto had grown up with and was great towards. This family also have two young children who he has been wonderful with until recently when he snapped at the 4 year old for no obvious reason. They were all left shocked and saddened by this but with a younger child they feel they are worried that the children are causing Otto to be stressed as he gets older.
His owners explain that Otto likes to have his own space in the evenings and during the day, but does also love a cuddle on the sofa or floor if you are willing to have him sit on top of you.
He is walked daily on and off lead, but they are careful off lead to only places they can see, because he has a strong nose and does like to hunt, and then it is difficult to regain his attention when needed.
He currently has a large garden that he has free rein of when they are home. He loves to have a kong or ball thrown for him as long as you will keep doing it, or a nice stroke if you are relaxing. His owner says that he is a strong minded lad and would not suit a first time dog owner. He likes to spend the days and nights curled up asleep on the sofa. He is good to settle when we are inside and relaxing.
Otto is neutered, and vaccinated, he does have a few small lumps on him that the vet has said are not worth investigating, and he was stiff over the Christmas period to the extent that they took him to the vets and they believe he may have some arthritis in his back end which they’ve treat with yumove and this has helped a lot and returned him to full health.
Otto has been left at home in the house for a few hours and was calm and relaxed when the family returned.
Out on walks when he’s on lead he is fine but does like to try and say a friendly hello. The family has socialised him with family dogs (male and female) and once a hierarchy is set he is well behaved. He likes to run around and play and forgets his age at the time when running. His reactions to cats and livestock are unknown do careful introductions would be advised. He has a moderate recall to his name and the whistle, but has a strong hunting instinct that is distracting to him his owner says. He’s a great traveller and used to travelling in the rear of the car.
