Beautiful Pippa is 7 years of age and has been a family pet since she was a puppy. She is well loved and adored everywhere she goes.
Unfortunately over the years she has escaped countless times despite the family’s best efforts to reinforce fencing etc. She recently escaped and destroyed a number of a neighbours pet chickens. Thankfully he has been very understanding, however this is something the owner cannot have happen again. The same property also has direct access (and usually an open gate) leading straight onto a very busy A road. The biggest fears for her owner is for her safety, and equally that she could or will cause a serious accident and injury to road users. Up until this very recent chicken incident Pippa hadn’t escaped for several months and her owner had hoped that it wouldn’t happen again but unfortunately it did and now she’s aware of the remaining chickens, she’s looking to get out again.
Pippa is a very loving girl to everyone adults and children alike. She gets on well with other dogs on walks, she loves to snooze in the sunshine and loves to swim (however should always be supervised in deep water).
On one occasion her owner spent 10 minutes searching frantically for her and had got into a panic that she'd gotten out.... then found that she'd popped the door open on the tumble dryer...had climbed in and was curled up fast asleep ontop of clean warm clothes!
Pippa loves to be warm and hates the cold!!! She will happily exercise in cold/wet/weather, but then wants to be inside warm and dry. She will shake and shiver at the word winter!!!
Pippa is a hunter and will destroy any game or small pets (cats included). Her owner is also very wary with her around livestock as she would at the very least give chase given the opportunity.
If something tempts her outside of the garden she will do her upmost to escape.
She is very excitable in a loving way, however this involves jumping up at people and or dogs.
Pippa is perfectly content when occasionally left at home for 4 to 6 hours during the day as long as fed, toileted and exercised at some point be it before or after, this has always been with her great friend and housemate. She sleeps in her crate in the kitchen overnight and with their other dog in the utility room during the day, with access to the garden.
She isn’t used to a dog walker however Pippa has happily gone out on walks with friends and family if her owner isn’t around. She can be strong on lead at the start of the walk but this eases as the walk goes on.
Pippa can walk to heal, she will sit, she will stay, she will stop, she will give her paw on demand. Once out of “hearing range” its hit and miss whether she will listen. She will not return if hunting an animal until she gives up. She likes to run far but will always return albeit on her terms her owner says.
Pippa gets along well with all dogs generally. However she can be very excitable and can be overpowering for some smaller dogs.
She loves children, however can jump with excitement and her size could knock a child over. She has happily lived for 71/2 years with children who were aged 4 and 2 years when she arrived as a puppy.
Pippa is a fantastic traveller. No fuss, no barking, no stress she likes to be picked up and carried into a vehicle.
She is a happy, healthy, neutered girl who is vaccinated until May 2026, she doesn’t have any current medical problems but she has had a torn cruciate which was operated on in 2024 resulting in 6 Months rest, crated for the first part, rehabilitation using water treadmill and swimming therapy followed for another 6 months, she recovered well.
