Gorgeous Wilson is nearly 3 years of age and has been staying with Clifton and Leona at their boarding kennels in Goole East Yorkshire where he has been having a wonderful time building his confidence, training and chasing his ball in the exercise areas. Wilson is happy trotting past the other boarding dogs on his way in and out for his exercise and he’s been happy to sniff many and say hello then carry on his way. He’s also been happy to sniff the dogs passing his area on their way for their fun and exercise with no issues.
He has been clean and well behaved, not putting a paw out of place while there for the last few weeks.
He had also been out walking with Clifton and Leona’s own dogs of an evening and again been very well behaved and well mannered with them both.
He is now ready to find an active, experienced new home. 💟
In his home he had been happily living with children 7-18 and was used to frequent visit from all their friends with no issues.
Wilson had been used to walking with groups of dogs with the dog walker weekly which he loved, he was strong on lead so used a head collar which helped. The dog walker said that he travelled really well in his crate with the other dogs and had an excellent recall. He regularly visited his grandads farm and would meet the horses on lead, he had a special relationship with one of the horses and would sit by his stable door and then jump up to give him kisses, much to the amusement of the family.
His favourite time of day was the evening when everyone was together watching TV and he was snuggled up on the sofa with them.
Wilson is looking for an active home with a confident owner as an only dog.
If you feel you could offer this loving lad a home please contact us.
Wilson is currently in Goole East Yorkshire and will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria insurance and our Adoption Contract.

Update Wilson will now be moving up to Goole, east Yorkshire, to be with our trainer and behaviourist who will assess him to try to find some answers for this lovely boy. He has also had x-rays to rule out any pain that could be causing him to panic.
Wilson is a complex and very handsome 2.5 year old male that we that we rehomed at the end of last summer. His first home had medical emergencies and a lovely couple stepped in to offer him a home with their gentle female GSP.
We knew that Wilson was an anxious boy suffering with separation anxiety if he was left for longer than two hours. The first family had been prescribed medication to help him remain calm.

His favourite time of day was and still is the evening, when everyone was together watching TV and he was snuggled up on the sofa with them. This has continued in his new home, as soon as the curtains are closed he has a huge sigh of relief and finally relaxes, cuddled up beautifully with the owners on the sofa.
After the move Wilson appeared to settle very quickly and enjoyed playing with his new big sister. He also enjoyed the regular ring craft training sessions that his new dad attended and helped run.
But after six months Wilson has started to show different fearful behaviours, especially when outside the home.
The first incident was at a training session when two dogs had a minor disagreement which was handled quickly. But Wilson was very concerned and the next session Wilson refused to go into the training hall. He had become unsettled and uncomfortable in the hall when he did go back inside, so his owner has now stopped taking him.
Another incident was after Wilson’s mum had popped out to run a quick errand, he was in the garden with his dad and GSP sister. He was jumping up to see if he could get a better view at the gate with his sister when he jumped on her back in his concern for his mum leaving. She told him off and Wilson escalated very quickly and attacked her causing severe damage to her ear, this was very uncharacteristic of Wilson and after such a small telling off.
The next incident was out on a walk he once again jumped on the female GSPs back and she yelped, this also escalated Wilson and another attack happened which resulted in the female needing 4 staples. She has forgiven Wilson but is very wary of him now.
Very sadly the last incident happened when two dogs were happily playing in a near by field while Wilson was out on his walk, he heard them playing and heard gunfire in the distance and panicked. He seemed petrified and in his fear tried to get away from his owner who was holding his lead. His owner ended up with scratches to his face, arms and body as Wilson squirmed to get away. Each time there has been incident his dad has tried to hold him or stop it and has accidentally got scratched in the process. Wilson has never meant to hurt his owner but has caused him to have stitches on two occasions. They don’t hold this against lovely Wilson because his dad explains that he does suffer with very thin skin that rips easily and the incidents have always been related to Wilson being scared and frightened, rather than aggression towards his owner.
The couple have been desperate to keep Wilson and to work with a trainer with Wilson to try and help him past this. But with him catching his dad on the face and body as well as his arms it is sadly too dangerous for him to stay in this home. He is very much loved by them both and he does have a really close bond with his mum who he dotes on too.
We will be looking for a home where Wilson can be the only dog, ideally a calm home in a rural area, with someone around a lot of the time or someone that if they have to leave him can afford to build up the time he’s left slowly as he gains his confidence in the new environment.
The trainer that has visited Wilson and seen him in his scared state is happy to answer questions about him and carry on working with him in the future.
She noted that Wilson showed an unusual gait on his back legs, often skipping when in trot or galloping. He would offload weight onto his right leg, in sit both back legs would stick out to the side this may suggest Wilson may be in some pain or discomfort. On a health check the vet was not overly concerned, Wilson is also incredibly sound sensitive, another red flag for pain and discomfort. This is being monitored by his vet and owners and if the vet decides to X-ray then we will be led by the professionals.
If you feel that you have the calm environment that could help this complex character become the best version of himself and you enjoy the evening sofa cuddles please contact us.
